A six-day yellow heat health alert has been issued for Kent, with temperatures once again set to soar.
The warning, issued by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), will be in place from 10am on Wednesday until 10am next Tuesday.
It covers London, the East Midlands, the West Midlands, the East of England, the South East and the South West.
The Met Office says some areas could reach heatwave criteria and possibly see temperatures in the low 30s by the end of the week.
It comes after two amber heat health alerts were issued in consecutive weeks at the end of June amid two separate heatwaves.
Temperatures in Kent reached a scorching 34C last Tuesday.
The UKHSA has warned of possibly significant impacts are possible across the health and social care services due to the high temperatures.
It states: “A rise in deaths, particularly among those aged 65 and over or with health conditions, is possible.
“There may also be impacts on younger age groups.
“There will likely be an increase in demand for health services.
“Internal temperatures in care settings like hospitals and care homes may exceed the recommended threshold for clinical risk assessment.”
