10 Secret Ways Video Games PUNISH You For Acting Stupid

METAL GEAR SOLID V
Konami

Usually discovering secrets in games requires you to be smart. However, some secrets only reveal themselves to players who act really, really dumb.

Yes, sometimes it takes being an idiot to make a discovery. You might be failing really easy objectives or trying things that are clearly going to end badly, and this will not only result in the expected terrible outcome but also a secret that makes the failure of your obviously bad idea that much harsher.

The secrets you find by acting stupid are not typically kind. They make fun of you for your actions, they roast you for failing to accomplish the most basic tasks, or they sarcastically mock you with passive-aggressive comments.

In each case, the discovery feels more like a punishment than a reward, which makes sense, considering you receive them for making dumb mistakes.

The following games like to be extra mean to those who act stupid. Be sure not to fool around too much when playing them, or your misadventures might end up with secret punishment designed to make you think twice about your actions.

10. I’m Getting Sick Of You – Ghost 1.0

METAL GEAR SOLID V
Valve

Ghost 1.0 is an indie platformer about an android working to take down an evil corporation.

As you would expect out of an independent release, the game features plenty of hidden Easter eggs and personal touches from the developers, even including its starting menu screen!

When you start a new game, the menu will ask you for a name, saying to “choose wisely” and that the name “can’t be changed later.”

It all looks like your standard warnings during the character creation stage, but it turns out that if you take the message too literally and decide to name the save file “Wisely,” the game will respond with a sassy message and tell you to do it again.

Picking the same name will continue to aggravate it further. And while you might think yourself funny for doing this, if you push the game’s buttons a little too hard and put in the name “changed later,” Ghost 1.0 will actually shut itself down by force, putting a definite end to your trolling.

If you’re too dumb to play by the rules, you don’t deserve to play at all!
