There was great excitement surrounding Luka Vuskovic when he linked up with the Tottenham first-team squad this summer, but he is unlikely to play a role at the club this season.
Tottenham Hotspur supporters were eager to see Luka Vuskovic in action and it is not difficult to understand why. He measures 6.3ft, scored seven goals in the Belgian Pro League last season and is only 18 years of age.
Vuskovic has already shown what he is capable of for Tottenham. He came off the bench against Reading in pre-season and within 10 minutes, the Croatian already had a goal and an assist.
However, Vuskovic has not yet made a competitive appearance for Spurs. He has been named in the Tottenham first-team squad on all three matchdays so far, but Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Kevin Danso have all been preferred to him.
Luka Vuskovic is set to join Hamburg on loan from Tottenham
Tottenham were said to be close to agreeing to allow Vuskovic to join Hamburg on loan. This came after Hamburg already agreed personal terms with Vuskovic. However, a more recent report claimed Spurs were still negotiating with the Bundesliga side.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed Vuskovic will join Hamburg, the team his brother and fellow centre-back Mario plays for. However, the loan move will not allow Hamburg the chance to sign Vuskovic permanently at the end of the season.

Romano’s X post read: “HSV Hamburg get green light from Tottenham for Luka Vusković to join the club on loan.
“No buy option, straight loan as seen as key part of future project at Tottenham Hotspur and huge talent.”
The move will see the defender reunited with his brother, Mario Vuskovic, who is already on the books at Hamburg but is serving a doping ban until November 2026.
Luka Vuskovic could make his Tottenham breakthrough next season
A season in the Bundesliga will do Vuskovic a world of good and he should return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as an improved player. It could be that an opportunity opens up for him at the club. Ben Davies is likely to be out of a contract by then, while Radu Dragusin would have to work very hard to change his fortunes at the club.
Rather than signing another new centre-back next summer, Tottenham could put their trust in Vuskovic and use him and Danso as their second choice central defenders.
