Dan Coleman, from Admissions and Student Housing, has launched a creative initiative linking the seminary’s lectionary readings with classic PC games. Starting this August and running all year, students, faculty, and staff can gather in the Flamingo coffee bar to play games chosen to connect with the upcoming Sunday’s passages. This project turns preparation for worship into an engaging mix of community, creativity, and reflection.
Each week features a game that mirrors themes in scripture. Recently, a passage from Jeremiah about being sent out was paired with a game where a young boy is sent on a mission by a king—echoing the prophet’s call in a playful way. These thoughtful connections between biblical stories and digital adventures offer fresh insight into themes like vocation, courage, and calling.
The weekly gatherings also build community across campus. The Flamingo becomes a space where fun meets lectionary study, drawing seminarians, faculty, and staff into shared reflection through play. Dan’s inspired idea shows how joy and creativity can open new doorways into scripture and formation. Thank you, Dan, for sparking this meaningful and playful tradition.
