David Ornstein has revealed what plans Tottenham have in mind to strengthen their attack in the final week of the transfer window, and has shared what he has heard about one youngster who is on the North London club’s radar.
According to various sources, including Alasdair Gold, Tottenham are prioritising signing an attacking midfielder and a winger before the window slams shut.
However, a deal for some of their top targets looks set to be difficult, with Spurs still trying hard to strike a deal with Man City for Savinho.
Meanwhile, it has been revealed that Tottenham have hit a roadblock in their pursuit of Como starlet Nico Paz, who has decided to stay put at the Serie A club.
David Ornstein makes admission about Tottenham target Maghnes Akliouche
Several sources have claimed over the last two weeks that Tottenham are considering a move for Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche, who lit up the French top-flight last season.
David Ornstein has now confirmed that the 23-year-old is admired by Spurs and reveals that those who work in the game are convinced that the Monaco man is going to become one of the best in the world.
The journalist said on The Athletic FC podcast about Tottenham’s targets: “They do have other options, and from what we hear, I don’t know exact names, but some of those are pretty ambitious. We’ve heard about Savinho.
“There will be other players too – reports of Akliouche of Monaco. If they pursued a deal for somebody like him – I speak to a lot of people in football who think he’s going to be one of the best attacking midfielders around and has outrageous potential.”
Akliouche will not come cheap for Spurs this summer
It was recently reported by L’Equipe last week that Monaco want €70m (£60m) for Maghnes Akliouche this summer.
The outlet added that the 23-year-old may stay put at the Ligue 1 side since none of his suitors are willing to meet the price tag.
However, journalist Pete O’Rourke said a couple of weeks ago that Spurs still see Akliouche as a cheaper alternative to Savinho.
