Tottenham Hotspur have reiterated their willingness to break the bank for Savinho, and the club’s pursuit of the Man City star now depends on just one factor.
Last week, it looked like Tottenham’s pursuit of the Brazilian may have been dead as reports indicated that Man City had no intention of selling Savinho.
However, the speculation linking the winger with a move to N17 has once again gathered momentum since Tottenham Hotspur and City played each other on Saturday.
It emerged on Sunday that Spurs are willing to bid upwards of €70m (£60.6m) for Savinho, and are prepared to try until the very end to get the deal over the line.
Fabrizio Romano provides Savinho to Tottenham transfer update
Fabrizio Romano has now claimed on his YouTube channel that Spurs reaffirmed to Man City today that they are willing to pay over £60m for the 21-year-old.
He says that Tottenham ‘will push’ for Savinho in the final week of the transfer window and adds that the ‘deal is absolutely on’.
However, the journalist explains that at this stage, the deal completely depends on whether Man City can find a replacement for Savinho.
Romano adds that Pep Guardiola wants to replace the former Girona man with Rodrygo, but signing the Real Madrid star will not be easy for City, given the winger’s wage demands and Los Blancos’ asking price.
Spurs believe that a deal for Savinho is possible
It was explained by Greame Bailey over the weekend that Tottenham feel that the deal for Savinho is doable before the window slams shut.
It has been widely reported over the last few weeks that Thomas Frank is a big fan of Savinho and sees him as the perfect fit for his set-up.
Given that Tottenham have failed to deliver Morgan Gibbs-White and Eberechi Eze to Frank, one can understand why the club are desperate to get this deal over the line.
