What Winzo co-founder Saumya Sigh Rathore said about the company expanding in US
“A Personal Note & An Exciting AnnouncementOn 13th December 2022, during our last flight together, my mentor, the late Mansi Srivastava, then Head of Content at MXPlayer spoke with a spark in her eyes about the Prime Video & Amazon MGM Studios–MX deal and her vision for the changing future of vernacular content in Bharat. That passion, that vision for localised storytelling on mobile continues to be my guiding voice, today!Today, as we launch ZO TV, I fondly remember Mansi, the best mentor and friend I learnt so much from, and take her passion project as my inspiration through these changing times for WinZO.
To my dear friends in Media and Production houses: We’re on a mission to bring the most exciting, localised short drama series to our 250 million users on WinZO. The scale is massive, the opportunity is real, and we’re moving fast, with all the energy and excitement this deserves.📩 Write to us at partnerships@winzogames.com. We can’t wait to bring your creative stories to audiences across Bharat and beyond,” Rathore wrote in a LinkedIn post.
Why Winzo is expanding in the US
Winzo’s expansion into the US is followed by the setback faced by the Indian gaming sector. Recently, the Indian government imposed a ban on
real-money gaming
apps. After the ban, startups with real-money gaming app started shutting down operators in the online real-money gaming division after the passage of Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025. The legalisation passed by the Indian parliament bans real-money games while promoting casual and e-sports formats. Both the houses of the Parliament now awaits presidential assent for the bill to become a law.By entering the US market Winzo aims to expand its offerings and tap into a more stable regulatory environment for digital entertainment. The company is said to focus on short-form video content. The ZO TV will try to serve as a bridge between the creators and the audience.“From Bharat to Brazil 🇧🇷 to the U.S. 🇺🇲 , WinZO now powers 250M+ users, 100+ games, and 100+ tech patents across three of the world’s top four gaming markets. This isn’t just our milestone. It’s India’s Tech Exports 2.0 story, built on resilience, driven by innovation, and fuelled by the ambition to take ‘Made in India’ to the world,” said the company in a post shared on LinkedIn.
