Excited to see Ouattara in action for Brentford. He’s essentially playing in that Bryan Mbeumo role, coming in off the right to support the striker.

In his programme notes, Andrews describes him as having ‘an untapped level that he can get to’.

Let’s see if we see it today. One thing is for sure, they need it. Mbeumo and Wissa scored nearly 40 league goals between them last season. That’s not easy to replace.

Today’s 3pm kick-offs all feature sides with something to prove. Bournemouth and Wolves are both desperate to bounce back after opening-day defeats, while Burnley are eager to show they belong at this level after their setback at Spurs. Sunderland, fresh from victory over West Ham, will see this as a chance to underline that they are more than just survival candidates.

And at the Gtech, Brentford’s new era under Keith Andrews begins in earnest against a Villa side still finding their rhythm.

Discipline will be one of the big themes for Emery’s visitors. Villa have had red cards in each of their last two league matches, and another today would be a Premier League first in their history.

At the other end of the scale, Burnley and Sunderland will be looking to channel the raw energy of promoted sides into something more controlled. Expect nerves, expect mistakes — but also expect drama, goals and plenty of talking points across all three venues.

Much of the attention at the Gtech this afternoon will be on Ollie Watkins, who has an outstanding record against his former club.

The England striker has scored on each of his last two visits to Brentford and has been directly involved in 13 goals in his past 18 Premier League appearances in London.

Unai Emery knows he needs his No 11 to fire, after Villa mustered just three shots in last week’s 0-0 draw with Newcastle — the fewest of any team in the division on matchday one.

Emery welcomes goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez back from suspension, while Pau Torres joins Tyrone Mings at centre-back.

Brentford, for their part, are without Yoane Wissa and instead turn to Igor Thiago to lead the line. Mikkel Damsgaard returns to the XI after becoming a father, while new boss Keith Andrews is relishing his first Premier League home game in charge.

‘We want to make our environment an uncomfortable place for clubs to come,’ he said.

With 75 goals scored at this ground last season — more than at any other venue — supporters should be in for a spectacle.

Burnley’s Premier League return began with a sobering 3-0 defeat at Tottenham, but Scott Parker has challenged his players to draw strength from Turf Moor this afternoon.

He makes two changes, with Jacob Bruun Larsen and young midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu — making his first top-flight start — both coming into the XI.

‘The fans were crucial last year… they were a driving force,’ Parker said this week. ‘There’s going to be some adversity, but I’ve absolutely no doubt our fanbase can help this young team.’

Sunderland, though, arrive with confidence after a thumping 3-0 win over West Ham last time out. Regis Le Bris is forced into one change as Omar Alderete replaces Jenson Seelt in central defence, but otherwise it’s the same XI that started so brightly in their top-flight return.

New signing Arthur Masuaku waits on the bench, ready for a possible debut, while Nordi Mukiele is still settling in. Burnley were 24 points clear of the Black Cats last season, but the form book has been torn up and both clubs know how important this early-season clash could prove.

Wolves arrive on the south coast looking for a response after being swept aside by Manchester City on opening weekend.

Vitor Pereira has put his faith in Colombian winger Jhon Arias, who starts for the first time since arriving this summer.

All eyes will also be on Jorgen Strand Larsen, with speculation linking him to Newcastle.

But Pereira insisted this week: ‘I watch him in training and he’s committed. He’s preparing himself to play against Bournemouth.’

Bournemouth, meanwhile, are unchanged from their 4-2 defeat at Anfield, when Antoine Semenyo’s double briefly had Liverpool rattled.

The Ghanaian striker has 13 goals since the start of last season and looks like Iraola’s main weapon.

Wolves have history on their side, unbeaten in five league visits to the Vitality, but this one feels delicately poised with both teams hunting their first points of the season.

So Keith Andrews was just teasing us.

In his pre-match press conference, the new Brentford boss had revealed that wantaway star Yoane Wissa was back training with the squad despite deleting all references to the club from his social media account and even hinting he might feature against Aston Villa.

Well, he’s not. He’s not in the squad. Thiago starts up front with new signing Dango Ouatarra also in the XI.

For Villa, Emi Martinez returns between the sticks despite Marco Bizot putting in a supreme performance against Newcastle.
