Daniel Levy personally steps in to try and push Tottenham transfer over the line

Tottenham Hotspur are fearful that other clubs may hijack their pursuit of Mohammed Kudus, which is why Daniel Levy has now decided to get involved in the transfer negotiations for the West Ham United star.

From a Tottenham Hotspur perspective, the headlines over the last 48 hours have been dominated by the club’s pursuit of Kudus.

The Lilywhites’ move for the winger has left many surprised as West Ham and Tottenham have not done much transfer business over the last two decades.

Apart from the rivalry between the two clubs on the pitch, there is also some bad blood at boardroom level.

West Ham United vice-chairman Karren Brady has had some choice words about Daniel Levy over the years, but the Tottenham chairman has now put his personal feelings aside and is getting actively involved in the negotiations for Kudus.

Daniel Levy is holding direct talks with West Ham over Mohammed Kudus

This update comes from GiveMeSport, who claim that Levy is now in direct conversations with West Ham owner David Sullivan over a deal for the Ghana international.

While a transfer is not close to completion just yet, the Tottenham chairman has decided to personally step in to push it over the line.

This is because Spurs are aware that some of their Premier League rivals are also looking at Kudus and they believe that it is important to move early if they wish to secure the 24-year-old’s signature.

The outlet confirms that West Ham do not expect Kudus’ £85m release clause to be met and reveals that Tottenham have started negotiations at £50m.

How much gap is there between Tottenham and West Ham on Kudus?

Spurs’ alleged offer of £50m falls short of what the Hammers are thought to want for the former Ajax man.

It has been widely reported over the last few days that West Ham are ready to sell Mohammed Kudus to Tottenham for £60m, with the East London club needing to raise cash swiftly to push ahead with moves for their top transfer targets.

Levy and Spurs would be hoping that West Ham’s desperation could help them land a favourable deal, but they are also leaving themselves open to the deal being hijacked if they haggle too much on the price.
