Pensioner dies eight days after being hit by car while crossing road

A 79-year-old man has died, eight days after being hit by a car.

The pensioner was crossing Mount Harry Road at its junction with the A225 Dartford Road in Tunbridge Wells on Tuesday, August 12, when he was struck by a red Mazda 2.

The vehicle stopped at the scene and the pedestrian was taken to the hospital in a critical condition.

Now, the force has confirmed the man died on Wednesday, August 20.

An investigation by officers from Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) is underway.

Officers are continuing to appeal for information surrounding the collision, which occurred at 1.24pm.

Motorists who were in the area at the time of the collision are urged to check for any relevant dashcam footage.
