If you’ve been wondering where or how to get started on a powerful gaming PC, then Newegg’s bundle deals are usually a pretty good place to start. This is especially as general component selections seem to be competent, and they usually make for some seriously excellent reductions that can be quite a bargain.
The deal I’ve spotted today gets you the basis of a formidable gaming PC at a serious discount, providing a fantastic eight core AMD processor, a feature-rich mid-spec AM5 motherboard and 240mm AIO CPU cooler all for $484. Technically the bundle’s value is indicative of the CPU and motherboard choice, with the AIO offered as a free gift, as it were.
You might have heard of the processor Newegg has chosen, with it being the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D – as the successor to AMD’s highly-rated 5800X3D, it’s fair to say we had high hopes for AMD’s Ryzen 7000 equivalent. However, the 7800X3D surpassed those expectations, given its sheer performance. The eight cores and 16 threads on offer at first don’t seem like they’d make the 7800X3D the ultimate gaming chip, but it’s because of its single chiplet design that allows it to run faster in games than the higher-end dual-chiplet 7900X3D and 7950X3D.
In our review, we noted the 7800X3D to offer some rather stellar performance, with some fantastic benchmark results in the likes of Flight Simulator 2020, where AMD’s chip posted a result of 96.7fps at 1080p and in Metro Exodus EE where the 7800X3D pulled ahead of AMD’s own 7950X3D and Intel’s 13900K with a result of 299.28fps at 1080p. Okay, its content creation performance isn’t as strong as its gaming results, but it’s still competent. I’ve used mine to reencode a lot of recent Blu-Ray backups in Handbrake and it’s been generally up to the task – although not as efficiently as AMD’s non-X3D chips of a similar stature.
The motherboard is a Gigabyte B650M Gaming Plus Wifi, which provides a good mix of features and affordability, with a decent set of ports that include numerous USB-As and a USB-C port, plus on-board HDMI and DP. There is also support for Wifi 6, Bluetooth 5.3 and 2.5-gig networking, while it’ll play nicely with an AM5-type system with DDR5 RAM slots that support EXPO overclocking, and am AM5 socket, obviously. It is an mATX size, so will fit in slightly more compact cases if you’re after a space-saving build. The AIO is a 240mm MSI MAG Coreliquid A13 in black, which comes with addressable RGB on its two 120mm PWM fans. plus a minimalistic and plesasant design that’s ideal for a modern PC build.
If you want to grab this fantastic bundle of components for the basis of a fast gaming PC from Newegg, this reduction is well worth your time.
