A World of Keflings, an Xbox 360 title from nearly 15 years ago, recently announced that it will be rolling out on Steam on July 29, 2025. Developed by NinjaBee, A World of Keflings is a city builder that was first released in December 2010.
When it originally hit the shelves on Xbox, A World of Keflings was met with an overall positive reception and was particularly appealing to casual gamers. This was in keeping with the reviews that its predecessor, A Kingdom of Keflings, another Xbox 360 classic, had received in 2008. Both games were released via Xbox Live Arcade—a now defunct service centered around bite-sized titles—and were published by Microsoft.

These Xbox 360 games were almost hits in their heyday, but they’ve sadly faded from memory and deserve a return to the limelight.
In June, NinjaBee unveiled the announcement trailer for the Steam port of A World of Keflings, along with its July 29 release date. Most recently, the studio put the spotlight on some of the game’s key features, such as a vast suite of city-building options, co-op gameplay for up to eight players, as many as 40 co-op emotes, and localization support for eight different languages, including Spanish and Japanese. Just as they did in A World of Keflings‘s Xbox 360 port, players will take up the role of city-planning giants to help out the Keflings scattered throughout three different in-game worlds.
A World of Keflings Is Coming to Steam
The gameplay involves erecting customizable structures and completing quests, which range from rescuing a princess to giving a hand to creepy witches. It’s worth noting that there are no enemies to fend off, no time constraints, and no character death in this game, making it suitable for fans of Stardew Valley-like cozy games.
Set to come out a long time after the original game, A World of Keflings‘s Steam version is confirmed to be “updated for modern machines” while simultaneously providing “the same classic gameplay experience.” A quick comparison between the casual game’s Xbox 360 gameplay screenshots and those of its upcoming port reveals an upgrade in visual quality, with sharper textures and improved lighting. Sharing the reason behind bringing back A World of Keflings from the Xbox 360 era, NinjaBee’s Steve Taylor, the game designer of the 2010 classic, said that fans of the game had been asking for a Steam port “for years.” He continued, “It’s a joy for us to finally deliver!”
A World of Kefling‘s revival on Steam is certainly important for those who spent time playing the original release on Xbox 360. Apart from this vintage cozy city builder, even more Xbox 360 titles could make their way to modern audiences, per a recent rumor. In case that is close to what’s happening behind the scenes at Xbox, it may be worth keeping an eye on such announcements in the near future for fans of the seventh-gen console.
