Nottingham Forest have enquired about Aston Villa right back Matty Cash.

Evangelos Marinakis has been busy working on deals to strengthen Nuno Espirito Santo‘s squad in recent weeks ahead of the Tricky Trees’ return to Europe this season.

They’ve reportedly now focused their search on recruiting a right back, with Cash one of the names on Forest’s list.

Club officials have contacted Aston Villa over a potential move for the 28-year-old Poland international, but negotiations are still at an early stage.

Forest have also made an offer to Sevilla for right-back Jose Angel Carmosa, 23.

A product of the club’s academy, Carmosa made 35 LaLiga appearances for Los Nervionenses last season. Since breaking into the first team in 2022, he’s also enjoyed spells on loan at Elche and Getafe.

Forest have already spent £140m this summer on new recruits including Jair Cunha, Igor Jesus, James McAtee, Arnaud Kalimuendo, Dan Ndoye and Omari Hutchinson.

Nottingham Forest have enquired about the possibility of signing Matty Cash from Aston Villa

Evangelos Marinakis has spent more than £140million this summer on strengthening the Tricky Trees’ squad

Hutchinson, 21, made the switch earlier this week from Championship side Ipswich Town, signing a five-year with Forest for a £37.5million fee.

Meanwhile Kalimuendo, a player who some of Europe’s biggest clubs had shown interest in, put pen to paper on a deal after Forest agreed a £26m fee with Rennes.

The 23-year-old caught the attention of the continent last season after bagging 18 goals in 34 appearances.

And former Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz now looks set to become Espirito Santo’s latest new recruit, with Forest agreeing a deal to sign him on loan from Juventus.

The Brazilian midfielder only left Unai Emery’s side last summer but has struggled to adjust to life in Serie A having made 27 appearances for the Old Lady last term.

Forest’s deal to sign Luiz includes an option to buy based on the number of appearances he makes at the City Ground.

The clause is thought to be worth £26m should Luiz meet the threshold required to meet it.
