The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) reported a revenue increase of over 11% in July.
The combined total revenue generated from all forms of gaming, along with fantasy contests, during July 2025 was $557,666,142, an increase of 11.36% over the revenue generated in July 2024. Sources of gaming revenue regulated by the PGCB include slot machines, table games, internet gaming, sports wagering, fantasy contests and video gaming terminals (VGTs). Total tax revenue generated collectively through all forms of gaming and fantasy contests was $238,543,797 during July 2025.
Revenue from the play of retail slot machines in July was $208,544,117, a 2.07% increase in revenue compared to the $204,305,305 generated a year ago at this time. The number of slot machines in operation in July 2025 was 24,362 compared to 24,709 at the casinos in July 2024. Tax revenue from the play of slots machines in July 2025 was $105,315,189.
July’s retail table games revenue was $76,230,219, a decrease of 3.97% from July 2024 when revenue was $79,380,427. Total tax revenue from table games play during July 2025 was $12,860,041.
Internet casino-type gaming (iGaming) revenue offered online this July generated monthly gross revenue totaling $228,258,244 compared to $174,318,463 in July 2024, an increase of 30.94%. Tax revenue generated from internet gaming play during July 2025 was $103,871,039.
The total sports wagering handle in July was $412,477,357 or 0.53% below the total of $414,673,804 generated in July 2024. The taxable revenue figure for July 2025 was $40,578,753, 5.22% higher when compared to July 2024, when taxable revenue was $38,565,690. Tax revenue generated from sports wagering during July 2025 was $14,608,351.
The July 2025 total adjusted revenue for VGTs was $3,462,043, which was 1.05% lower than the July 2024 revenue of $3,498,777. By the end of July 2025, all VGT Operators offered the maximum permitted five machines at 73 qualified truck stop establishments, compared to five machines at 74 establishments at this time last year. Tax revenue collected from the play of VGTs in July 2025 was $1,800,263.
July revenue from fantasy contests was $592,766 in July 2025, a decrease of 17.09% from the July 2024 revenue of $714,971. Tax revenue collected from the play of Fantasy Contests in July 2025 was $88,915.
The PGCB oversees all aspects of gambling involving 17 land-based casinos, online casino games, retail and online sports wagering, and VGTs at qualified truck stops, along with the regulation of online fantasy sports contests. The land-based casino industry in Pennsylvania consists of six racetrack (Category 1) casinos, five stand-alone (Category 2) casinos, two resort (Category 3) casinos and four mini-casinos (Category 4).
