Tottenham Hotspur reportedly made a very lucrative offer for Marc Guehi this summer as his move from Crystal Palace to Liverpool stalls.
According to reports, Tottenham are keen on adding a centre-back to their squad before the transfer window shuts.
Various sources have claimed that Spurs have settled on Bayer Leverkusen star Piero Hincapie as their top target rather than Marc Guehi.
This is likely because it was reported last month that the Lilywhites also made an approach for Guehi, who turned down a move to N17.
Tottenham tried to tempt Marc Guehi with a big offer
Spurs insider Paul O’Keefe has now revealed that the Lilywhites offered the England international very lucrative terms to come to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
However, the centre-back made it clear to the North London side that he only wants to join Liverpool if he leaves Selhurst Park this summer.
O’Keefe said on The Last Word on Spurs: “The word from within Palace, my Palace contact, is saying that it’s Liverpool or bust. But he did say that Spurs’ offer to him on personal terms was ‘very, very, very good’.
“But I think it might be a case with Marc that if he doesn’t get his Liverpool move, then he’ll stay the season and see it out, then go on a free.”
Will Spurs try their luck again on Guehi deal?
According to The Mirror and other outlets, there is still some distance between Palace’s and Liverpool’s valuations of Guehi.
A move to Anfield does not appear very close for the centre-back at the moment. While that could change over the coming days, one wonders if Tottenham Hotspur may put in another late offer for the 27-year-old to see if he has changed his mind.
It has been reported by CaughtOffside that Inter Milan are now monitoring Guehi’s situation as his move to Merseyside stalls.
