It has now been revealed by David Ornstein that Arsenal are keen to reinforce their attack following a latest injury development, and it comes at a bad time for Tottenham, who continue to work on getting Eberechi Eze’s signing over the line.
Earlier in the summer, it was reported that Eze favoured a move to Arsenal over Tottenham, but thankfully for the Lilywhites, the Gunners never challenged Spurs in the race for the Palace star.
It was reported by several sources that Arsenal decided against pursuing Eze as they prioritised adding a left-winger to their squad over a number ten.
That has allowed their rivals to step up their pursuit of the 27-year-old, with Spurs now on the verge of sealing Eze’s signing, but a big development at the Emirates could potentially put Tottenham’s deal under threat.
Arsenal looking to bolster their attack after latest injury blow
According to various sources, including Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham still have some minor details to sort out in the Eze deal, with the club yet to reach a full agreement with Crystal Palace.
Worryingly for Tottenham, The Athletic’s David Ornstein has now revealed that bolstering their attack has suddenly become a priority for Mikel Arteta’s men.
This is because Kai Havertz has now picked up a knee injury and is expected to have a sustained spell on the sidelines. This has forced the Gunners to look for reinforcements to their attack in the final week and a half of the transfer window.
While Ornstein has not mentioned Eze as an option for Arsenal, given the club’s previous interest in the England international, Tottenham Hotspur may fear that their local rivals may be plotting a hijack.
Tottenham fans should be optimistic about Eberechi Eze deal
Various sources have continued to indicate that Tottenham are confident of getting the Eze deal over the line. It has been widely reported that Eze is now extremely keen on moving to N17.
Even if Arsenal suddenly re-enter the race for the 27-year-old, he will know that Thomas Frank’s men were much keener on him while Arteta’s side failed to bid for him and are only turning to him as an emergency option.
The former QPR man’s mind would have likely been made up about a move to Tottenham, but Spurs fans will want Daniel Levy to hurry and wrap up a deal swiftly.
