Armed police were involved in a stand-off with a man allegedly seen “wielding a sword and a knife”.
An officer suffered a cut to his hand and a person was Tasered during the incident in Worcester Close, Istead Rise, this morning (August 20).

Patrols, including armed officers, attended the scene, near a construction site and park, following reports of a man with “two bladed weapons” at around 7.45am.
They spoke to a man outside a property and it is alleged he was acting in a threatening manner and an officer discharged a Taser.
It follows unconfirmed reports from residents the suspect was seen “wielding a sword and a knife” earlier.
Witness Gary Hickinson was walking his daughter to nursery when he saw the emergency response.
He said: “When I got there the police had him in handcuffs already.
“I spoke to one of the officers who said that because an officer was injured the road would be closed for some time.
“I didn’t see much else happen. It’s not what you expect to see on the morning commute, though.”
A police spokesman said: “A 29-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of assault and possession of an offensive weapon.

“He was taken into custody and an investigation is underway.”
The injured officer was taken to hospital for medical attention.
The arrested man has been described as a British national.
