A new Lego Batman game Legacy Of The Dark Knight has been announced, featuring an open-world version of Gotham City.
Lego Batman: Legacy Of The Dark Knight was announced last night as part of Gamescom’s Opening Night Live showcase. The game has been developed by the same team who created Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga and will be released at some point in 2026.
The reveal trailer features some familiar faces from the Batman universes and references several of the movies, including 2008’s The Dark Knight. Legacy Of The Dark Knight will also feature an open-world Gotham City that you can drive around using the Batmobile.
“Legacy Of The Dark Knight is a brand-new open world action adventure video game that invites players to embark on Bruce Wayne’s epic journey to become the hero of Gotham City, inspired by decades of Batman films, television, comic books, and games, and jam-packed with Batman nostalgia, DC lore and TT Games’ signature brand of fun-filled humor,” reads an accompanying description of the game.
Legacy Of The Dark Knight will begin with a young Bruce Wayne recruiting allies such as Jim Gordon, Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl and Catwoman before taking on a rogue’s gallery that includes The Joker, The Penguin, Poison Ivy, Ra’s al Ghul, and Bane, the latter of which will be voiced by Toast Of London’s Matt Berry.
“Whether he’s the wrathful Dark Knight, the brilliant detective, or the unlikely father of the ‘Batfam,’ Batman has constantly evolved — shaped by the world around him while remaining a timeless symbol,” said DC President Jim Lee. “This game brings together nearly every facet of his legacy, letting you experience the full range of what makes Batman iconic. Built with incredible care, creativity, and deep respect for the mythos, TT Games has crafted a love letter to the world of Batman.”

Lego Batman: Legacy Of The Dark Knight will release at some point in 2026 for Xbox Series X/S, PC and PlayStation 5.

In other news, the best-selling video games of 2025 have been revealed with only eight titles from this year making the top 20.
