Watch this space

Yesterday’s latest episode of the Official Xbox Podcast gave us some insight into what’s going on over at Team Xbox right now, and one of the things they talked about was the continued focus on improving Xbox Cloud Gaming.
The two guests on the podcast were Xbox platform architects Jason Beaumont and Jason Ronald, both of whom discussed how they’re going to keep growing the service and make it more “affordable” and “accessible” along the way.
Here are some of their excerpts from the interview:
Jason Beaumont: “You’re going to see us continue to invest in this area, and this includes adding new servers to meet the growing demand, but also means exploring innovative ways to reach more players wherever they are. Our goal is really simple. We want to bring more games to more people. Cloud gaming is great at that. So that means looking at expanding Xbox cloud gaming to even more countries around the world so that everyone can play the games that they love no matter where they are.”
Jason Ronald: “Yeah, one of the things that we see is there’s a lot of players who use Game Pass Ultimate to access the cloud, whether that’s the primary way they play or just, as Jason said, an additional way to play when you’re on the go or not around your console or your PC. And so for us, I think it really opens up the opportunity to make it much more affordable and to give more, make it more accessible to more players, whether that’s going into new regions or new ways to actually access the cloud…”
We’ve heard for quite a while that Xbox might be interested in opening up new ways to access Cloud Gaming without having to be a Game Pass Ultimate member, so that’s probably something in the works right now, and obviously they’ve confirmed here that they want to open it up to more countries around the world as well.
Watch this space, then! And for what it’s worth, Ronald also mentioned that they’re focused on “adding as much value as we can” for Xbox Game Pass members, highlighting things like “Stream Your Own Game” and free-to-play benefits that have been added to the service recently.
