It’s summer in Cologne, Germany, and the video games are in full bloom. Gamescom 2025 kicks off on Tuesday, August 19 at 2PM ET with Opening Night Live, a showcase hosted by the folks behind The Game Awards and Summer Game Fest, and you can watch it alongside the Engadget crew right here. The stream promises to feature the worldwide reveal of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, plus fresh details on Ghost of Yotei, The Outer Worlds 2, Resident Evil Requiem, Silent Hill f and Ninja Gaiden 4, and a live performance of music from Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
There’s also a good chance — seriously, for real, no joke — that ONL 2025 will include a release date for Hollow Knight: Silksong. I already feel like a clown for typing that sentence, but I stand by it, considering the evidence: Silksong will be playable on the Gamescom show floor and, as far as we know, it’s coming out this year.
