Gamescom, the world’s largest video game convention, officially starts on Wednesday in Cologne, Germany. For the rest of the world, Gamescom starts virtually on Tuesday, with a major games (and entertainment) livestream called Gamescom Opening Night Live, hosted by The Game Awards emcee Geoff Keighley. This year’s Opening Night Live starts Tuesday, Aug. 19 at 2 p.m. EDT/11 a.m. PDT and can be watched on Gamescom’s YouTube and Twitch channels, and at The Game Awards’ YouTube and Twitch channels.
We already have a good idea of what to expect. Keighley has confirmed that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, Resident Evil: Requiem, The Outer Worlds 2, Ninja Gaiden 4, Silent Hill f, Ghost of Yotei, and World of Warcraft: Midnight will all have a presence during Gamescom Opening Night Live. We’ll also get a peek at Prime Video’s Fallout season 2.
Will Hideo Kojima be there? You’d be a fool to bet against him showing up, I’ll say that.
Gamescom Opening Night Live 2025 will officially start on Tuesday, Aug. 19, at 2 p.m. EDT/11 a.m. PDT/7 p.m. BST/8 p.m. CEST. Check your time zone to see when the Gamescom 2025 livestream starts in your part of the world.
Before Gamescom ONL officially starts, there will be a 30-minute pre-show hosted by Kyle Bosman. Keighley promises “multiple new game announcements” will be shared. Opening Night Live’s pre-show starts at 1:30 p.m. EDT/10:30 a.m. PDT/6:30 p.m. BST/7:30 p.m. CEST.
Gamescom Opening Night Live typically runs for two hours. But set aside a little extra time for the 30-minute pre-show, just in case.
