Scoop up sweet treats at bank holiday ice cream festival

Visitors can enjoy a range of flavours and toppings from local traders, including dairy-free and vegan options.

Choose your scoop and head over to the top field where you’ll find an outdoor stage with live music and entertainers throughout the weekend.

There will also be children’s performances and family activities, including fairground rides and a bouncy castle. There’s also Kent Life’s circus skills workshops, Big Top shows, tractor trailer rides, farmyard animals and more.

The three-day festival also features a foam party disco where kids and adults can dance along to pop tunes, but be aware, you might want to bring a change of clothes for afterwards.

The 28-acre farm, which was originally part of the Allington Castle estate owned by Thomas Wyatt in the mid-16th century, is now home to 200 animals, indoor and outdoor play areas, a reconstructed rural village and orchards.

It’s one of the only places left in the country that grows, harvests and packs its own hops using traditional techniques, which are on display at the annual Hops ‘n’ Harvest Festival in September.

The Ice Cream Festival takes place from Saturday, August 23 to Monday, August 25 at Kent Life in Maidstone. You can book tickets here.

Tickets cost £13, under 2s and Kent Life members go free.
