Destiny Udogie provided a funny response to a Chelsea fan on social media who was critical of Tottenham’s showing in the Premier League last season.
For the best part of the last two decades, Tottenham Hotspur fans have had to deal with taunts from opposition fans about the club’s lack of silverware.
In fact, any social media post about Spurs would instigate responses of “warra trophy”, but that has finally ended after the Lilywhites overcame Manchester United in Bilbao last month to lift the Europa League title.
That is why Ange Postecoglou will always be loved by the Tottenham faithful, with the Australian accomplishing what the likes of Antonio Conte, Jose Mourinho and Mauricio Pochettino failed to: deliver silverware to N17 and finally give Spurs fans bragging rights.
Destiny Udogie reacts to taunts about Tottenham’s Premier League finish
Given how desperate the Spurs fan base was for a trophy, the team’s abject showing in the Premier League has been forgiven, even though Tottenham had their worst-ever league season and finished just one place ahead of the relegation zone.
When Destiny Udogie posted a picture of himself on a holiday, a Chelsea fan decided to mock the Tottenham left-back.
However, since he could not use the “warra trophy” meme anymore, the Chelsea fan responded with the comment: “17th last season”. The Italy international gave the perfect reply to that, writing: “You forgetting something”.
Tottenham have to build on Europa League success
While that night in Bilbao will live long in the memories of Spurs fans, they are desperate to see the club build on the success and win trophies regularly.
The club are making all the right noises, with Daniel Levy insisting that Tottenham’s eventual aim is to win the Premier League and the Champions League.
However, actions speak louder than words and the supporters are still waiting for the club to leap into action this transfer window and make some statement signings at the start of the new era under Thomas Frank.
