YouTuber ymfah managed to complete Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 on the highest difficulty level while deliberately taking every hit from enemies. He altogether avoided dodges, parries, and gradient counterattacks, ignoring all of the game’s defensive mechanics.
Without parrying, ymfah had fewer opportunities to use powerful attacks, and his characters took maximum damage from opponents. The YouTuber called this a vicious cycle.
To compensate for the lack of defense, ymfah made extensive use of pictos and lumines, which provide stat boosts and passive enhancements. He focused particularly on improving aimed attacks and stacking damage multipliers, comparing the process to Balatro.
During the run, ymfah used a few minor exploits — for example, skipping the boss fight with Eveque to farm experience, then returning when his characters were stronger.
In the end, he cleared the main game and defeated the most challenging endgame bosses.
