The arrival of GTA 6 in the summer of 2026 is one of the biggest events of the year. Rockstar’s popular series is releasing a new game after 13 years and breaking the market with GTA 5, one of the best-selling games in history. The criminal plot, adventure, and legendary missions will still be there, although it is more than likely that a prophecy that had been fulfilled until now will come to an end.
Every time the Grand Theft Auto series released a new main game with the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5, an English Premier League soccer team benefited, as it won the league that year. This is Manchester United, one of the most successful British teams in history.

The little trap within curiosity
The first game in the main GTA series was released in 1997, the year Manchester United won the Premier League under Sir Alex Ferguson. Since then, the Mancunians’ league triumphs have coincided with the release of the other games in the Rockstar series: 1999 (GTA 2), 2001 (GTA 3), 2008 (GTA 4), and 2013 (GTA 5). In fact, that year was the last time United won the English championship.
However, there are two games from the main GTA series that have not yet been mentioned: Vice City and San Andreas. In the years they were released, 2002 and 2004, Arsenal were the champions. However, the prophecy with Manchester United is only complete if a number appears after the name Grand Theft Auto, even though the aforementioned games are two of the most legendary installments.
Will it happen again in 2026?
With the release of GTA 6 in the summer of 2026, many people are wondering if the prophecy will repeat itself and Manchester United will win the Premier League. The answer, barring a miracle, is quite simple: no. The English team will not win the league title unless something quite extraordinary happens. Since their last title in 2013, the Red Devils have been losing their dominance in England due to their owners, Ferguson’s departure, and poor decisions in the transfer market.
Now led by Rúben Amorim, the team finished last season (24/25) in fifteenth place, the club’s worst finish in over 50 years. That’s why it’s almost impossible to imagine that the coincidence with the release of GTA 6 will lead to United winning the championship.
