Manchester United skipper Bruno Fernandes failed to keep his petulance in order during a feisty 2-2 draw with Everton.
The Red Devils scooped the Premier League Summer Series trophy at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in the four-team tournament that also included West Ham and Bournemouth.
But the match wasn’t without it’s fair share of notable incidents as fans at Atlanta United’s home stadium were treated to a four-goal thriller.
It was Fernandes who opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 19th minute, before Iliman Ndiaye equalised just before the break.
The two players would later go head-to-head late on in heated scenes with United 2-1 up thanks to Mason Mount‘s beautifully-struck curling effort.
Fernandes, who is no stranger to showcasing his frustration during matches, drew an instant reaction out of Ndiaye during an Everton counter-attack.

As Ndiaye skipped past the Portuguese playmaker in the middle of the pitch, Fernandes lashed out at him from behind with a studs-up challenge.
Ndiaye responded by shoving the two-time Nations League winner backwards – before pushing him a further two times on each occasion that Fernandes looked to get in his face.
Mount then rushed over to give Ndiaye a little shove, with Patrick Dorgu and Jake O’Brien then coming over as they looked to de-escalate the situation.
Whilst this was happening, Everton went on to get back on level terms following a freak own goal which saw Amad Diallo’s attempted clearance cannon off Ayden Heaven and into the bottom left corner in the 75th minute.
Both Fernandes and Ndiaye picked up yellow cards following the incident, with the duo shaking hands and moving on – despite the former’s pleas to the referee that he did nothing wrong.
United failed in their attempts to secure a late winner to bring an end to their final match of their pre-season tour of America, which saw them beat both West Ham and Bournemouth.
What did Bruno Fernandes say about his Manchester United teammates?
Despite picking up a point against the Toffees that secured them the Summer Series trophy, Fernandes hit out at his teammates’ display.
He also urged the board for more signings following the arrivals of Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha for £71million and £62.5m respectively.
Discussing whether United’s Stateside tour has been a success, Fernandes said: “It’s been positive. It’s been positive to be together to create a bond between the players.
“It’s been important for developing how we want to play and getting the new players involved too.
“We didn’t want to finish in this way. Our performance wasn’t the best and we were a little bit lazy today.
“We want to avoid that because with laziness you can pay at any moment.”
He added of the United squad: “It’s improving, but it’s not the place it needs to be.
“I don’t want to take a dig at anyone but the club is doing the best they can in terms of the financial situation they talk about.
“But it was crystal clear we needed more competition for the players that were here, more quality to get everyone to step up a little more to get to the XI, and I think that is what the club are trying to do.
“Hopefully we can get one or two players more to help with that.”
