Three fire engines called to pub after electrical fault

Fire crews descended on a pub last night after a light switch started emitting smoke.

Three fire engines were spotted outside the Wheatsheaf pub in Northdown Park Road in Cliftonville, Margate, shortly before 9pm on Sunday.

A spokesman for the service said: “A smoking light switch was out on arrival.

“Crews provided safety advice, including advising seeking the attendance of an electrician.

“There are no reported injuries, and the cause is believed to be an electrical fault.”

KentOnline contacted the pub, which declined to comment.
