True to their word, Sony and Arc System Works have revealed that fighting game fans will be able to play Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls soon via a closed beta test kicking off next month.
The announcement was made today at the Evo Fighting Championships in Las Vegas, and this was an awesome way to cap the last day of the event.
There’s a new trailer available, and we’ve also included details on what to expect.
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls Closed Beta Kicks Off Next Week
If you’re interested in playing the game before release, you can sign up for the closed beta via this link, though don’t forget that signing up does not guarantee that you’ll automatically get picked.
The beta will run from September 5-7, and if you’re selected, you’ll receive an invitation via email.
Some of the key features to expect from the closed beta include six playable characters, including Captain America, Iron Man, Ms. Marvel, Star-Lord, Storm and Doctor Doom. You’ll also be able to view the full Command List for each character. Marvel’s New York City will have three areas: City Center, Avengers Park and Hell’s Kitchen.
During the beta, you can try out the 64-player lobby with Chibi avatars, the ‘Startup Battle’ practice mode against the computer, and watch other participants battle online in Spectator Mode.
There’s also a beginner’s guide video released by Arc System Works that goes over the fighting game’s essentials. It’s also a good way to check out the gameplay and whether this is the fighting game for you.
Based on what we’ve seen, this seems like a more controlled version of the super-popular Marvel Vs. series games from Capcom, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
Also part of Evo and the fighting game scene, Sony unveiled the FlexStrike, the first wireless fightstick for the PS5 that can also be used on PC, and will be released in 2026.
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls has no release date yet, but it is slated for release on the PS5 and PC in 2026. Will Xbox gamers eventually get it like Helldivers 2? Given the game’s reliance on an active community, I wouldn’t be surprised to see this appear on Xbox platforms in the future.
