As Joao Palhinha edges closer to a loan move to Tottenham Hotspur, Fabrizio Romano has shed light on what Thomas Frank is feeling about the midfielder’s signing.
It has been widely reported for over a month that Frank is keen on adding a number six to his Tottenham squad, and the Dane is finally about to get his wish.
This is because several sources indicate that Spurs have agreed to sign Joao Palhinha on loan, with an option to buy for €30m (£26m).
The Portugal international is set to return to the Premier League just 12 months after making a £47m switch from Fulham to Bayern Munich.
Thomas Frank is delighted by Joao Palhinha’s arrival at Tottenham
Fabrizio Romano has now revealed on his YouTube channel that the Tottenham head coach is very excited about the opportunity to work with Palhinha.
The journalist says that the Portugal international is exactly the kind of defensive midfielder that Frank wanted at Spurs as the Dane puts his imprint on the side.
The former Brentford head coach believes that the 30-year-old will add experience, quality, and intensity to the Tottenham midfield.
How much will Palhinha earn at Spurs?
It has been reported that Tottenham will cover Joao Palhinha’s full salary during his loan spell in North London.
That means that Palhinha will become Tottenham’s third-highest earner after Heung-min Son and James Maddison, with the midfielder’s current contract worth £166,725 per week.
Even though Spurs are not paying a transfer fee, the former Fulham player is still an expensive addition for the Lilywhites. However, Tottenham’s wage bill may soon be reduced as Heung-min Son’s move to LAFC is reportedly advancing.
