gamescom 2025 is but a few weeks away and with it comes a slew of game previews, announcements, the whole works. I like video games and I presume you do, too, my fine fellow reader. And as you know, with a show as big as gamescom (and an industry even larger than life) it’s easy to lose track of what’s been announced, what’s coming, and what’s already come out! Luckily, you’ll have yours truly as a tour guide as I go over games that will have a presence at the coming trade show. Below you’ll find everything I’ve mentioned above and I’ll even highlight some notable favourites I’m rooting for.
There’s a lot of games (and I mean a lot) so you’ll likely see this initial list balloon in size as we approach the Opening Night Live show as well as us dropping bespoke news posts for anything special. This page will be updated is what I’m trying to say and you should stop by every now and again—I get lonely very easily and it’s nice to toss a word salad at someone.
Oh and, by the way, if you’re headed to gamescom and would like your game featured on this list, feel free to leave us a message! We love mail. Well, most of the time.

The Last Caretaker
ONE TO WATCH FOR LADS
“‘The Last Caretaker’ is a science-fiction, single-player survival adventure set in a narratively rich open world. Equal parts Wall-E, Nier: Automata, and Subnautica.”
That’s a little library of inspirations, but The Last Caretaker looks absolutely rad. Players will take on the role of The Caretaker, a sentient robot that has awoken from their slumber after many years and with one mission: to recover the human seeds that remain dormant and send what’s left of humanity to the stars. You’ll need to defend your base from rogue robots and other menaces that threaten you and the last hope for humanity and everything you do leads you to learning more about yourself. Wishlist it now on Steam!
WHAT THE CLASH
‘WHAT THE CLASH’ is already out actually, Apple exclusive. It’s a party game that anyone can pick up for some quick one-on-one action across a variety of minigames online. It’s a bit of fun actually! And because it’s got a presence at gamescom, it’s on this list here to remind you of its existence. Give it ago, especially if you’re an Apple Arcade pass holder.
God Save Birmingham
The title may read like something from some exaggerated bit of historical fiction (and I’m totally not leading this into a poor joke about the state of Birmingham in real life) but no, this is indeed a survival video game coming soon to a PC near you. Developed by Ocean Drive Studio and published by Kakao Games, God Save Birmingham will be playable at gamescom for the first time ever. Players will eat cheese, drink their sorrows away, and try to live life as the last-living soul in Birmingham that hasn’t been turned into a zombie.
Escape from Duckov
Escape from Duckov is a single-player looter shooter game with influences taken from a popular extraction shooter. As a duck, you’ll need to keep your gear and your sights in check as you build your base and clear out the map. Die and your items will be lost! A demo is currently available on PC via Steam.
Tiny Bookshop
Tiny Bookshop is a cosy management game where you run your own little bookshop by the sea where you get to stock up on books, take in the sights, and talk to your customers (who are, of course, the locals!). In a world so full of frame perfect parries, jumps, and DPS checks, sometimes it’s nice to just unwind and sell books, yeah?
This one actually drops a week from now on PC via Steam. A demo is also available for your perusal, as well. And since the devs are going to gamescom, you can hit up their booth to play the game and have a lovely chat with the makers about their games. And possibly books. I presume the developers are readers, anyhow.
Xbox@gamescom
“Oh great”, you bellow under your breath before letting out a stinky, wet fart. “An Xbox recommendation on an Xbox-centric site. How quaint”. And of course, besides pointing out the obvious like you’re king of the septic tank, it’s also okay to be mildly skeptical. But this year we’re looking at a booth of games amongst which we can finally see gameplay of the clown-inducing ‘Hollow Knight: Silksong’, ‘Borderlands 4’, the new ROG Ally Xbox kits, and much more. Don’t be stingy now—Even if Xbox won’t have a stage presence this year, they’ve got a lot of fun games they’ll be showcasing!
