Tottenham supporters have been left buzzing by a recent development concerning Dejan Kulusevski and his recovery from injury.
Dejan Kulusevski was largely touted as one of the standout performers for Tottenham last term, particularly in the opening six months of the campaign when his tireless running and creativity made a real difference in the final third.
However, as the season wore on and injuries began to mount across the squad, the Swedish international found himself having to play an exhaustive number of games, which eventually took a toll on him.
In May, Kulusevski’s season was abruptly cut short after he picked up a serious knee injury, one that required surgery to his patella, ending his campaign just as the team entered a crucial stretch.
Tottenham fans react to Dejan Kulusevski injury recovery update
Dejan Kulusevski has now shared an encouraging update on his rehabilitation process, posting a photo on social media of himself with a football at his feet, accompanied by the caption: “first time since May.”
The post quickly drew widespread attention from Tottenham fans online, many of whom were thrilled to see the 24-year-old winger making tangible progress in his recovery.
One fan commented: “Streets will not forget late 2024 Kulu, hope he comes back as strong”. Another added: “My guy is still months away”.
A third said: “Welp, that means he probably will not be back until Christmas”. A final fan chimed in: “Need him back healthy!”
One fan demanded a ‘Rocky training montage’ while another said Kulusevski ‘doesn’t look like a man who will be out for most of the season.’
Spurs weigh up options as Kulusevski faces lengthy absence
There is no fixed return date for Dejan Kulusevski; however, it is expected that the Swede will return sometime during the Spring.
With the 24-year-old attacking midfielder likely to miss a significant portion of the opening half of the 2025/26 season, Tottenham have moved to bolster their creative options behind the striker.
Morgan Gibbs-White was identified as Spurs’ preferred target, with the club even activating the Nottingham Forest man’s release clause. However, Tottenham were dealt a blow after the midfielder opted to stay put at the City Ground.
Thomas Frank has since had to get creative in dealing with the absence of his first-choice number tens, turning his attention to other in-house solutions, including one of last season’s standout performers.
