Reckless drivers plaguing town face being kicked out or arrested

Reckless drivers plaguing a town’s streets risk being kicked out on the spot – and arrested if they try to sneak back in.

The clampdown will start at 4pm today as a dispersal order comes into force in Faversham and will last until 4pm on Sunday.

It will cover multiple areas around the town centre, extending to London Road, Western Link, Oare Road, Bysing Wood Road, and Davington Hill.

This includes all open spaces, alleyways, footpaths and grassed areas.

The order gives officers additional powers to move on anyone causing a nuisance and, if necessary, arrest those who return to the area.

Cars or motorbikes used in an anti-social or dangerous manner will be seized.

Chief Inspector Vanessa Foster said: “We are committed to ensuring residents and visitors feel safe when out and about, and we will not tolerate intimidating or disorderly behaviour.

“Officers will be patrolling the area, and anyone found causing a nuisance will be required to leave.

“Any that choose to return once dispersed can expect to be detained.”

Anybody who wishes to report instances of anti-social behaviour should report it online via the Kent Police website.

Call 999 if a crime is in progress.
