Tottenham fans will not have to wait too long to see Joao Palhinha holding up a Spurs shirt, as David Ornstein has now confirmed when the midfielder will have his medical ahead of his move to N17.
The transfer appears to have moved very fast, with a number of sources now reporting that Palhinha is expected to become Tottenham’s fourth signing of the summer.
The Portugal international’s arrival will help solve a huge problem area for Spurs, with reports over the last month widely claiming that Thomas Frank was keen on adding a top number-six to his squad.
The former Fulham man will bring plenty of Premier League experience, and Palhinha’s signing represents a shift in Tottenham’s transfer policy, with the club moving away from their approach of signing younger players with more resale value.

Some Tottenham fans will understandably not get carried away until the midfielder is pictured holding up a Spurs shirt, particularly after the Morgan Gibbs-White fiasco.
However, they would not have to wait long to get an official confirmation of the Palhinha transfer, as The Athletic’s David Ornstein has now revealed that the move is in its final stages.
The journalist reports that the 30-year-old will have his medical in Germany today before finalising the season-long loan move to Spurs.

Ornstein also confirms what we have heard from other sources by stating that Tottenham Hotspur will have an option to buy Palhinha for €30m (£25.9m) next summer.
He says that Spurs will cover the midfielder’s full €192,308 (£166,712) per week salary over the next 12 months.
Ornstein also adds that Bayern Munich were ready to sell the 30-year-old permanently, but Tottenham preferred a temporary deal.
