LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Tourism in Las Vegas fell again in June, continuing what gaming executives have admitted is a soft summer for the vacation destination.

Just under 3.1 million people visited town in June, according to new figures from the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA). That’s down 11.3% compared to June 2024.

Hotel occupancy also dropped 6.5 percentage points, and the average daily room rate fell by 6.6% to $163.64.

In its executive summary, the LVCVA attributed June’s decline to “the broader backdrop of persistent economic uncertainty and weaker consumer confidence, compounded by a slower convention month.”

Harry Reid International Airport also reported a 6.6% decline in June’s flyer total compared to a year ago.

June’s gaming win numbers provided better news. Casinos on the Las Vegas Strip posted win revenue of $765.3 million for the month, up 3.54% from the year-ago month.

That snaps a four-month streak in which the gaming win on the Strip declined.

Still, Las Vegas resort operators say business the coming months will remain slower compared to previous summers.

“It’s really, get out of the group-light third quarter and into the group-heavier fourth quarter, first quarter, second quarter [of 2026], when we have significant business booked,” Caesars Entertainment CEO Tom Reeg told analysts on Tuesday.

MGM Resorts also said that despite the recent lull, better days are ahead.

“I want to take this opportunity to emphasize that Las Vegas remains fundamentally solid,” MGM CEO Bill Hornbuckle said on an earnings call Wednesday, emphasizing strong business at the company’s luxury properties.
