Thomas Frank has made a rather curious comment about his plans for Heung-min Son, just as reports indicate that the Tottenham forward is getting closer and closer to a move to Major League Soccer.
It is now clear that the Tottenham captain’s proposed move to Los Angeles FC is very much on the cards after the MLS side submitted an offer for the forward.
It has emerged over recent days that LAFC are close to agreeing personal terms with Son, who is giving serious consideration to swapping the North London side for the Californian franchise.
Tottenham will allow Son to make the final decision on his future, but just as the forward appears to be edging closer to an exit, Frank has made a very interesting statement about his prospects at N17.
Thomas Frank says Heung-min Son will have ‘a very good role’ at Tottenham
Frank has now claimed that the Tottenham legend will have a prominent role under him this season if he decides to stay in North London.
The Dane praised the 33-year-old’s commitment and attitude in training and remarked that he is excited to work with the long-serving Spurs star.
When asked about Son’s future and whether he will be a player that he relies on, Frank told Men in Blazers: “I think first and foremost, Son’s legacy here is remarkable. He’s been a fantastic player for Tottenham; he IS a fantastic player for Tottenham.
“I see a player who can play a very good role here next season. He’s come in, very good mindset, trained very hard, pushed the players. So I’m excited about it.”
Spurs are stepping up their pursuit of Son replacement
While Frank may have given a diplomatic answer about the Spurs legend, the club may have already sent a hint that they expect the forward to leave this summer.
Over the last few days, reports have indicated that Tottenham have now stepped up their interest in Real Madrid star Rodrygo, who primarily plays on the left.
Some sources have even claimed that Spurs are ready to pay €90m (£78.1) for Rodrygo, which is perhaps a clear sign that they want to make a marquee signing to replace the Korean superstar.
