Hollow Knight: Silksong is closer than we imagine, as Xbox announces it will be playable at Gamescom 2025

2025 will be the year when Hollow Knight: Silkosong finally stops being the most commented game on any video game stream. After it was announced that it would finally be released this year around the time of the launch of the ROG Xbox Ally, Team Cherry’s game feels closer than ever, and gamescom 2025 will be the place where attendees can play it for the first time.

Xbox has announced via Xbox Wire that the highly anticipated sequel to this title will be playable at the Xbox booth. “This year, the Xbox booth will be full of fantastic upcoming games from Xbox and our incredible third-party partners coming to Xbox, PC, and Game Pass this Holiday and beyond – and yes, that includes Hollow Knight: Silksong,” the post reads. “On top of that, there will be the first ever public opportunity to go hands-on with the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X, as well as other fun activities and photo opportunities.”

A diverse lineup for gamers

Beyond Silksong and the new handhelds, Xbox is bringing a robust collection of titles to the show floor in Hall 7 of the Koelnmesse. Gamers can look forward to getting hands-on with Grounded 2, the highly anticipated sequel to Obsidian Entertainment’s unique survival game. Another major highlight for fans of fast-paced action will be the first public hands-on demo for Ninja Gaiden 4, offering a glimpse into the next chapter of the iconic series.

While The Outer Worlds 2 will be featured, it will be presented as a “theater experience,” indicating a hands-off demo. For aviation enthusiasts, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 will showcase an “exciting city update.” Players interested in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will be able to play the base game, though the new DLC for the title will not be available for public play at the event.

Xbox’s booth will also host playable demos from various third-party partners. This includes eagerly anticipated games such as Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Borderlands 4, and the Xbox versions of Final Fantasy 16 and Final Fantasy 7 Remake Integrade. The broad selection ensures a diverse experience for all attendees.
