The Chinese GPU industry has been making massive strides in recent days, and now, the Moore Threads S90 gaming GPU has been tested, revealing performance competitive with NVIDIA’s mainstream offerings.
Moore Threads MTT S90 Beats Out NVIDIA’s RTX 4060 Across Multiple Tests, Credits to Optimized Drivers
When you look at some of the consumer graphics offerings from China, they have put up sub-par competition against the Western alternatives, mainly due to poor hardware, unoptimized performance,, and the lack of interest in this segment. However, ever since the AI hype, Chinese companies have increased their pursuit towards developing capable GPUs, with one of the notable examples being Huawei and Lisuan. Now, Moore Threads, a firm who was previously proud to introduce PCIe Gen 5.0 in GPUs for the first time, has finally realized a capable graphics GPU.
Before we dive into the benchmarks (via MyDrivers), it’s essential to let you know that the GPU tested in them is the MTT S4000, which is a workstation-oriented GPU, but the MTT S90 is a similar model as well, which employs the same chip architecture A Chinese blogger has managed to test out the MTT S4000 across synthetic and gaming workloads, and based on what we are seeing the GPU manages to compete with NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 4060, which is a massive achievement for Moore Threads, and we’ll discuss why ahead.

The above testing indicates that the MTT S90 has narrowed the gap with NVIDIA’s RTX 4060. Apart from synthetic results, the GPUs were also compared on Naraka: Bladepoint, a famous gaming title in China. Under 4K ultra-high settings, the MTT S90 managed to bag an average of 43 FPS, which was minimally higher than the RTX 4060’s 42 FPS. These are serious numbers by Moore Threads, considering that some of their previous models didn’t even manage to compete against the GTX 1050 Ti, mainly due to unoptimized drivers.
Speaking of drivers, it is claimed that Moore Threads has made significant advancements with them, and compared to the previous model, the MTT S80, the drivers are currently in a much better state, and have reportedly brought in up to 80% cross-gen performance increase. For now, we aren’t exactly sure about the specifications of the MTT S90, but it is likely to feature a PCIe 5.0 platform. However, it is important to note that Chinese GPUs haven’t been tested by reviewers over the internet, so these advancements should be taken with a grain of salt.
