Arsenal have reached a long-awaited agreement with Sporting for Viktor Gyokeres – and Myles Lewis-Skelly can’t wait to meet him.
talkSPORT understands the Gunners have agreed a €63.5million [£55m] deal with €10m [£8.7m] in add-ons for the Swedish striker.
Gyokeres is set to be given permission to undergo a medical within 24 hours before he finally completes his move to north London.
The long and drawn-out saga is now approaching its conclusion, and Lewis-Skelly certainly seems impressed with Arsenal’s business.
In a video posted by academy defender Josh Nichols on his Instagram story, Lewis-Skelly is seen gleefully holding his phone.
A post from transfer guru Fabrizio Romano confirming Gyokeres’ pending move is shown on the screen.

Lewis-Skelly then copies his new teammate’s celebration by crossing his hands across his face.
Gyokeres had also been linked with Manchester United in a move that would reunite him with former Sporting head coach Ruben Amorim.
However, the ex-Coventry centre-forward only had eyes on joining Arsenal, who have needed to make a big-name striker signing after missing out on the title once again.
Alexander Isak and Benjamin Sesko were also speculated targets for Mikel Arteta’s side.
Isak, who was linked with Liverpool, could stay at Newcastle, whilst talkSPORT understands RB Leipzig star Sesko is a target for United.
Now Arsenal can prepare for the 2025/26 season with their incoming No. 9 signing and work towards another Premier League title push.
When will Gyokeres to Arsenal be confirmed?
talkSPORT transfer correspondent Ben Jacobs has revealed what is left to be completed before Arsenal can announce Gyokeres’ move.
“Well I’m told there’s an agreement in principle now so it’s not just close, it’s done verbally,” Jacobs said on Hawksbee and Baker.
“€63.5m [£55m] plus €10m [£8.7m] in add-ons, they were quibbling over €2.5m [£2.1m] of those add-ons, it’s now been resolved.
“Sporting not only wanted them to be easier, but also had some pushback on the overall payment terms of the fixed part of the fee.
“Arsenal wanted to pay it in four [instalments], Sporting wanted it in two, they’ve reached a compromise.
“So, Gyokeres is now waiting for permission to undergo his medical. There may be a sell-on clause as well that still needs to be finalised.
“But this is basically a done deal, it’s not in doubt. Sporting tried to be tough negotiators and even invite hijacks.
“Manchester United didn’t bite, they didn’t want to bid, and Viktor Gyokeres will now be an Arsenal player, it’s a matter of when, not if.
“So next step, permission to travel is expected within the next 24 hours, he’ll undergo his medical and then finally, Arsenal will get their No. 9.”
Arsenal are set to have spent around £188m on signings this summer once Gyokeres has arrived.
