Tottenham fans will love what Pape Sarr just said about winning trophies and Heung-min Son

Pape Sarr has spoken about the drive that exists at Tottenham to build on their Europa League success and continue winning silverware.

The current Spurs side have written their name into the club’s history books and will always be remembered as the team which finally broke the trophy jinx and brought the first piece of silverware to N17 in 17 years.

A whole generation of Tottenham fans had never seen their side lift a trophy, which is why emotions were running high, not just in Bilbao but during the trophy parade that followed in North London.

Thomas Frank has now set his aim on winning the biggest trophies in the sport, and it sounds like the players are also very hungry to taste more success.

Pape Sarr says Tottenham want to build a winning culture

Far from resting on their laurels, the Tottenham players are now hungry to continue winning trophies after getting a taste of it, according to Pape Matar Sarr.

The Senegal international insisted that a club of Spurs’ stature should be competing for and winning trophies regularly.

The midfielder told The Sun: “We’ve only won one trophy, so I won’t say we’ve changed anything yet. What we want now is to win again this season.

“Tottenham is massive. We’re one of the top 15 clubs in the world, we’ve got to build a winning culture and keep going. Last season was special, but why not go and win more?”

“If you win a trophy, it’s always amazing, even if you’ve done it before, it’s still special. So imagine winning it for the first time. The dressing room that night in Bilbao was buzzing, but we all immediately knew we had to build on it and fix what went wrong.”

Sarr says Heung-min Son is the best person he has met in his career

The man who proudly hoisted the trophy, Heung-min Son, now faces an uncertain future at Tottenham, with the South Korean now in the final year of his contract.

Thomas Frank has admitted that the decision on Son’s future will be a collective one by the club, but no matter what happens, the 33-year-old has written his name into Spurs folklore and will always remain a legend.

When asked about playing alongside Son, Sarr said: “Listen, Sonny is like Mr Nice! Everyone who joins the club, he is there to help you. But for me? He’s the best person I’ve met in my career. From day one, the amount of help he’s given me has been unbelievable.

“He asks me about my holidays, checks in on what I’ve been doing — all just to understand me better and help me improve. And yeah, Bissouma too, he brings energy, good vibes but Sonny? He helps all of us. A true captain.”
