The week before San Diego Comic-Con still brought a surprising amount of news from the film and gaming industries. Let’s recap all you may have missed this week!
‘The Accountant 2’ Physical Release Date
Christian Wolff (Ben Affleck) has a talent for solving complex problems. When an old acquaintance is murdered, leaving behind a cryptic message to “find the accountant,” Wolff is compelled to solve the case. Realizing more extreme measures are necessary, Wolff recruits his estranged and highly lethal brother, Brax (Jon Bernthal), to help. In partnership with U.S. Treasury Deputy Director Marybeth Medina (Cynthia Addai-Robinson), they uncover a deadly conspiracy, becoming targets of a ruthless network of killers who will stop at nothing to keep their secrets buried.
Warner Bros. is launching The Accountant 2 on physical 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray and DVD on August 12th.
Taika Waititi Developing new ‘Judge Dredd’ Film
According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, Taika Waititi is attached to direct a new Judge Dredd movie. Drew Pearce (Fall Guy) is penning the script and the producers are currently shopping it around to major studios at the moment.
New Sonic Racing: Crossworlds Trailer/Switch 2 Physical Release Details
SEGA released a trailer giving fans a deeper look into the customization and gadget features available within Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. With over 40+ vehicles, 70+ gadgets, and 100+ vehicle parts and decals, there are thousands of combinations available for players to customize the ultimate racing machine. Players can mix and match racers and vehicles, vehicle parts, and gadgets to create a customized racing experience suited to their gameplay style.
Fans can also look forward to digital and physical pre-orders for Nintendo Switch™, Nintendo Switch™- OLED Model, and Nintendo Switch™ Lite, which are available now starting at $59.99 USD. The Nintendo Switch™ 2 system version will be available for pre-order at a later date starting at $69.99 USD for the Standard Edition and $89.99 for the Digital Deluxe Edition. There will be a $10.00 USD Upgrade Pack available for owners of Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch- OLED Model, and Nintendo Switch Lite, with content and progress able to carry over through the upgrade. The Nintendo Switch 2 system version will launch digitally this holiday 2025 and physically early 2026.
‘Iyanu’ Season 2 and Prequel Movie Coming to SDCC
Iyanu, created by award-winning Nigerian filmmaker Roye Okupe, is an animated series based on his graphic novel Iyanu: Child of Wonder, published by YouNeek Studios and Dark Horse Comics. As Executive Producer and Showrunner, Okupe brings West African culture to life through rich 2D animation and dynamic storytelling. The series premiered in April on Cartoon Network and is now streaming in full on HBO Max.
At San Diego Comic-Con, Iyanu will be featured in a dedicated panel:
“Iyanu’s Journey: The Next Chapter” – Sunday, July 27 | 1:00–2:00 PM PT | Room 24ABC
The panel will include an exclusive look at the upcoming prequel film Iyanu: The Age of Wonders—including the official release date reveal—along with sneak peeks from Season 2 and behind-the-scenes insights from the creative team.

‘Stranger Things’ Season 5 Gets a Trailer
At last, Netflix has released a full trailer for the upcoming final season of Stranger Things.
The fall of 1987. Hawkins is scarred by the opening of the Rifts, and our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna. But he has vanished — his whereabouts and plans unknown. Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding. Volume 1 of Stranger Things 5 hits on November 26th, with Volume 2 on Christmas Day. The finale will then drop on New Year’s Eve.
