Roblox has announced new security features, including an AI-powered system that will focus on the age verification of minors between the ages of 13 and 17. This is the latest move by the company to create a safer space for children on Roblox, as its inability to do so has been frequently criticized in recent years.

Roblox: Build a Golem Army Codes (July 2025)

This article contains all of the active codes for Build a Golem Army, as well as a step-by-step guide on how Roblox fans can use them.

Now, Roblox has announced a new set of features that aim to protect teenagers on the platform. One important new tool coming to Roblox is an AI-powered system that will allow players to take a “video selfie,” which will be scanned by AI to determine the person’s age, with the technology aimed at individuals between the ages of 13 and 17. The main benefit of this tool is that it will help teenagers who do not have access to a physical ID. However, it’s unknown how effective the tool will be in actually determining a person’s age correctly. Other changes include the addition of more ways to manage notifications, screen time, and privacy, and a tool that gives parents insights about the screen time of their kids. To give more freedom to users, teenagers will be able to designate “trusted connections,” allowing them to communicate with some people without filters.

The change comes on the heels of harsh criticism Roblox has received for not providing enough protection for its young users. Back in 2023, Roblox even faced a lawsuit from players’ parents over the “harmful content” their children were exposed to on the platform, such as sexual content or predators.

These are not the only kind of lawsuits that have been aimed at Roblox, though. Earlier this year, Roblox was sued again for using a viral dance without a proper license, and the dancer’s creator claimed she was not properly compensated.

Despite these lawsuits, Roblox continues to thrive, and it has started some interesting partnerships recently. Earlier this week, for example, it was revealed that some Roblox creators could be paid for creating content inspired by popular IPs such as Like a Dragon and Stranger Things. Sega, for example, is offering a 50/50 revenue split for Like a Dragon fan content, which will likely be good for the platform’s growth.
