The Epic Games Store has stepped up its free game giveaway service with a new title claimed to be worth $79.99 when purchased off-sale. Available to grab for $0 until next Thursday, Civilization VI: Platinum Edition features several expansions and scenario packs over the base game.
Epic Games has switched up its free PC game of the week after offering Figment 2 and Sky Racket last week in a deal worth almost $40 when redeemed together. This time, the storefront has moved away from indie games to a popular title published by 2K Games on Nintendo Switch, PS4 and Xbox as well as PC.
This time, Epic Games has opted to give away Civilization VI but only for Windows. Unlike recent giveaways, the storefront is not just offering the base game, which can regularly be found on sale across other platforms like Steam. Instead, Epic has discounted the Platinum Edition from $79.99 to $0.00, which contains the following features as well as the base Civilization VI game:
- Australia Civilization & Scenario Pack
- Gathering Storm expansion
- Khmer and Indonesia Civilization & Scenario Pack
- Nubia Civilization & Scenario Pack
- Persia and Macedon Civilization & Scenario Pack
- Poland Civilization & Scenario Pack
- Rise and Fall expansion
- Vikings Scenario Pack
For reference, Civilization VI has achieved an average of 89/100 on OpenCritic with a 92% critics recommendation and an 80/100 player rating since its release. Meanwhile, the game scores 88/100 from 84 critic reviews on Metacritic but only a 7.2/10 user score on the same platform. Today’s giveaway will be available to add to your Epic Games library until July 24 at 14:59 UTC.
