Zack Snyder may be best known for his cinematic epics, but behind the camera, he’s also a dedicated gamer. In a recent interview with Variety, Snyder confessed that he’s “a giant Fortnite fan” and plays “tons of Fortnite”, a surprising admission that sheds light on his creative process for Netflix’s new game, Blood Line: A Rebel Moon Game.

A Fortnite fan at heart
Snyder explained that while he doesn’t have much experience with campaign-style games, Fortnite’s fast-paced, multiplayer format resonates with him. That influence is clear in ‘Blood Line’, which features:
- Isometric twin-stick shooter gameplay
- Four playable classes: Bannerguard, Evoker, Kindred, and Forsaken
- Online co-op for up to five players
- Procedural missions and boss fights designed to teach players through action
Developed by Super Evil Megacorp (known for Splintered Fate), the game is available now for Netflix subscribers on iOS and Android.
Expanding the Rebel Moon universe
Blood Line is set in the same universe as Snyder’s ‘Rebel Moon’ films, but tells a standalone story. Players join a rebellion against the tyrannical Motherworld, exploring environments from desert outposts to frozen prisons. Snyder praised the game’s “narrative detail” and said the boss fights are designed to make players better through challenge and repetition.

While Blood Line is gaining traction, Snyder is currently focused on directing an LAPD SWAT action movie for Netflix. He’s taking a break from the ‘Rebel Moon’ film franchise, but says there are “tons of stories” left to tell, hinting at future expansions if the game and films continue to perform well.
