Mohammed Kudus outpaces speedy Tottenham defender in pre-season training

Tottenham have completed one of their most expensive signings in history, and Mohammed Kudus is already making his mark in training, making one defender look slow during his first Spurs training session.

Spurs do not often splash the cash in transfer windows, but they have opted to complete their fourth most expensive deal of all time this summer, bringing in Mohammed Kudus for £55 million from West Ham United.

The Ghana international looks to be settling well into life at N17, and has already begun pre-season training after completing his medicals at Hotspur Way.

Full-back Pedro Porro was quick to send a message to Kudus right after his move to Hotspur Way was completed, admitting that he is not looking forward to the one-v-ones in training against the new signing.

Mohammed Kudus leaves Destiny Udogie trailing in Tottenham training

Tottenham have now released a video on their official channel, showcasing their new signing in training for the first time.

One Spurs full-back, Destiny Udogie, has already felt the blistering pace of the wide forward, as Kudus used his speed to glide past the Italian defender despite giving him a significant headstart.

Udogie is not a slow player by any stretch, but Kudus is lightning quick and currently ranks second for pace in the Tottenham squad, with Micky van de Ven the only one faster, and Udogie has now been given a sharp reminder of that quality.

You can see the burst of speed from Mohammed Kudus just four seconds into the Tottenham video below:

Tottenham do have a solid variety of attackers with different profiles, but before the signing of Kudus, not many could beat their man for pace while also being elite at dribbling, and now the Tottenham defenders have something to worry about in training.

Kudus adds pace and dribbling threat to the Spurs attack

Heung-min Son is quick, but he is getting along with age. Brennan Johnson is not the slowest, but his greatest attribute is poaching and scoring goals.

Wilson Odobert and Mathys Tel are youngsters who have the potential to be elite dribblers, but Kudus is a notch better than them after having played more in the Premier League.

Tottenham need a player of Mohammed Kudus’ style, particularly against low blocks, where his dribbling and pace could be useful in breaking down teams.

The addition of the versatile winger also bodes well for the Tottenham defenders, who can also improve their defending and marking with a maverick like Kudus in their team.
