Nottingham Forest looking to beat Tottenham to midfield target amid Morgan Gibbs-White saga

As Nottingham Forest attempt to stop Morgan Gibbs-White from going to Tottenham, they are now plotting to hand the North London club another huge blow by securing a player who is rumoured to be near the top of Thomas Frank’s wishlist.

Most Spurs fans are well caught up on the unfolding Morgan Gibbs-White transfer saga, with Forest launching a legal challenge against Tottenham Hotspur for allegedly talking to the attacking midfielder without their permission.

Spurs remain confident of landing Gibbs-White despite Forest’s attempts to stop the deal, but according to reports, it is unclear how long it will take for the Gibbs-White issue to be resolved.

In the meantime, the Midlands club are now trying to sink a major blow to Daniel Levy and Spurs by swooping for one of the Lilywhites’ midfield targets.

Nottingham Forest are looking to beat Tottenham to Jacob Ramsey

Regular readers of Spurs Web will be aware that Tottenham have been credited with an interest in Jacob Ramsey, who Aston Villa are thought to be ready to cash in on.

Some sources have claimed that Thomas Frank is a big fan of Ramsey and is keen to bring him to N17, but Nottingham Forest are now looking to ensure that does not happen.

According to a new report in The Telegraph, Forest have now made the Villa star their number one target this summer.

It is alleged that Nuno Espirito Santo has identified Ramsey as someone who can play across the frontline in his set-up.

The report adds that Forest have a “long-standing” interest in the 24-year-old and hope that the offer of European football would be enough to convince the versatile midfielder to greenlight a move to the City Ground.

Have Spurs abandoned their pursuit of Ramsey?

It was claimed two weeks ago by former Spurs scout Mick Brown that Ramsey would jump at the chance to join Tottenham.

However, The Telegraph make no mention of the North London side in their report, naming West Ham and Everton as the two other clubs interested in the Villa star.

With the arrival of Mohammed Kudus from West Ham, Frank has a lot of options in his forward line, and it seems unlikely that Spurs will sign another wide player unless someone leaves.
