Tottenham are interested in a Joao Palhinha transfer this summer, but they would have to beat a host of Premier League rivals to land the Portuguese’s signature.
We reported a few days ago that Tottenham Hotspur have shown interest in Bayern Munich’s midfield destroyer Joao Palhinha.
The Portuguese international’s future has been uncertain this summer, having suffered for minutes in his first season in the Bundesliga under head coach Vincent Kompany, managing just 667 minutes in 17 Bundesliga games.
Tottenham are looking to add more depth to their midfield, and it is claimed that Palhinha is one of several holding midfielders being considered by the Lilywhites.

CaughtOffside have now confirmed what we already know, stating that Tottenham are amongst a host of clubs interested in the Bayern Munich man.
However, it is stated that the Lilywhites are not the only ones interested in the 29-year-old midfielder, as Manchester United are also in the race to land the Portugal international.
It is also understood that Man United have already made initial enquiries for Palhinha and that the Red Devils are maintaining communication with Bayern as they juggle several transfer priorities.
Spurs have been handed a major early boost in their pursuit of the Bayern midfielder, as it is reported that Ruben Amorim’s side’s initial proposal of a loan deal has since been rejected by Bayern Munich.

It is explained by the publication that the German champions are only considering permanent offers and are said to value Palhinha at €30-35 million (around £25-30 million), which is well below the €51 million (£43.3 million) they paid to Fulham just last summer.
West Ham United are also credited with an interest in Palhinha, and it is stated that they are on the verge of entering formal negotiations, having tracked the player’s availability in recent weeks.
His former club, Fulham, are said to be interested in a reunion; however, concerns over the Portuguese’s salary demands and injury record look to be a stumbling block.
Meanwhile, Brighton and Aston Villa are reported to have expressed interest, adding more intrigue to this transfer saga, as Palhinha himself is keen to move back to England.
