Police are hunting a driver who reversed into a patrol car and crashed into several other vehicles before escaping on foot this afternoon.
A white Volkswagen had been pulled over by officers in Whitstable Road, Canterbury, amid concerns about the manner of the motorist’s driving.

Two officers jumped out of their car near Forty Acres Road, before one of them smashed the front passenger window of the VW.
But the driver reversed into the police vehicle before veering towards another car and smashing into it.
The force says several cars were damaged in this afternoon’s incident, which sparked traffic delays in the area.
Dylan Woolf, 61, witnessed the dramatic incident unfold at about 1.30pm today.
“Two police officers jumped out and ran to the car,” the photographer said.

“One of them went to the side of the white VW and smashed its front passenger window.
“A third officer came out but the driver reversed his car into the police car and then took off and climbed the side of another car.
“I’ve never seen anything like it.”
A police spokesperson says officers on patrol in Canterbury required a motorist to stop in Whitstable Road to speak to them regarding the manner of their driving.

“The vehicle made off from officers and was involved in a collision with several cars before coming to a stop,” they said.
“No injuries were reported. The driver left the scene on foot.
“The suspect remains outstanding and patrols are searching the local area.”
The road was closed but reopened shortly after 2.30pm.
