Video games are typically forgiving when it comes to forgetting things. You can start a quest, completely abandon it, and then return hours later as if nothing happened. There are no consequences to erasing things from your memory for the most part, but this said, some games can actually take great offense to it!
Instead of the regular quests that don’t care about when you complete them and objectives that tell you where to go at all times, some titles prefer to have you remember the things they tell you.
They will expect you to pay attention and do the things they want you to do on your own, or else you will have to pay for your neglect.
Some can punish you for forgetting to finish a quest, some will do so for neglecting to help your friends, and some will even make you suffer for misremembering overly specific sequences of actions.
In each case, your lack of attention span can cost you everything, so unless you want to pay the ultimate price, make sure to check this list and remember what you need to do!
10. Exploding Gale – Baldur’s Gate 3

With Baldur’s Gate 3 exhibiting great attention to detail, it can be hard to keep track of everything that happens in your campaign.
This said, you’d do well to at least pay attention to what’s going on in your party, unless you feel like being exploded by the smoldering corpse of your ever-hungry mage, Gale.
Gale is the archmage of Waterdeep who has lost most of his powers after a freak accident has infused him with an ancient Netherese orb. Because of this, Gale has to regularly consume magical artifacts, or else he will turn into a magical bomb capable of razing entire cities.
Of course, in order to keep feeding the artifact, Gale needs to stay alive, which is why, when he dies, he will actually spawn a magical projection of himself advising you to resurrect him as quickly as possible.
Of course, you don’t have to listen to his words right away. However, should you forget about the wizard for at least three long rests, on the third day of your forgetfulness streak Gale’s body will actually explode, instantly killing your party.
If you’re doing an honor mode run, or you don’t make multiple saves, this mistake can completely erase your playthrough.
