The Mangmi Air X is confirmed to be receiving a global release later this year. Available for equivalent to $70 in China, the Air X combines a 5.5-inch and 1080p IPS display with a 5,000 mAh battery, a well-supported Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset and Hall effect controls.
It seems that Mangmi is preparing to release its first gaming handheld globally. Launched earlier this month in China, the Air X retails for CNY 499 (~$70) within China, in part thanks to its Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 chipset. Nonetheless, the Snapdragon 662 and its Adreno drivers should deliver superior performance than equivalent SoCs like the MediaTek Helio G85, Unisoc T610 or Unisoc T618 found in gaming handhelds like the Anbernic RG505 (curr. $142.49 on Amazon).
Moreover, the Mangmi Air X features Hall effect joysticks and triggers that manufacturers typically reserve for more expensive gaming handhelds. Similarly, Mangmi has included a 5.5-inch IPS display with a 1080p native resolution and 450 nits peak brightness. Elsewhere, the Air X features other hardware like a six-axis gyroscope, a 5,000 mAh battery and 4 GB of LPDDR4x RAM complemented by 64 GB of expandable storage.
Mangmi has not confirmed when the Air X will be available outside China yet. Likewise, the company has not hinted at how much the device will cost. Instead, it is offering a $5 launch discount for those who add themselves to a mailing list. Please see Mangmi’s global website for more details.
