A Nintendo Direct dedicated to various Switch 2 titles could still happen in July, according to a known industry leaker and their sources. While Nintendo or its third-party partners have not confirmed a Nintendo Direct for this month, the leaker claimed that the broadcast could go live sometime after the launch of Donkey Kong Bananza.

Since its launch, the Switch 2 has become the hottest-selling gaming product of 2025, with an estimated five million units sold within its first month on the market. Although games exclusive to the Switch 2 have not been plentiful so far, the success of Nintendo’s new console is largely due to the enhanced support that original Switch games, such as Poemon Scarlet and Violet and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, received via free and paid upgrades. Aside from Mario Kart World, one of the most anticipated summer titles for the Switch 2 is Donkey Kong Bananza, which is set to launch on Thursday, July 17.

While rumors about a summer Nintendo Direct have made the rounds since Summer Game Fest, a known leaker claims that the next Direct could still air soon. During his July 14 podcast episode, industry leaker NateTheHate stated that a Nintendo Direct planned for July may still go live after Donkey Kong Bananza hits store shelves. NateTheHate and co-host MVG discussed how third-party games like Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition and Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade could also bolster support for the Switch 2.

NateTheHate Says the Next Nintendo Direct Could Still Happen Later in July

About 32 minutes into the podcast, NateTheHate states that some developers he has spoken with have chosen not to reveal details about some upcoming game projects, lending credence to a potential Nintendo Direct being when those games will be properly shown. As of this writing, Nintendo has not revealed when the next Nintendo Direct will happen, so all rumors must be taken with a grain of salt.

Along with third-party game support, NateTheHate and MVG also talked about Nintendo titles that could carry the Switch 2 into the 2025 holiday season. While Pokemon Legends: Z-A will launch on October 16, the highly anticipated Metroid Prime 4: Beyond has no precise release date. Given that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond was first revealed during the June 2024 Nintendo Direct as a 2025 title, it stands to reason that an exact launch date for Samus’ next adventure could be revealed at an upcoming Direct.

Currently, the only confirmed Nintendo-centric broadcast scheduled for this month is Pokemon Presents, which will air on Tuesday, July 22, at 9:00 AM Eastern. It remains to be seen if NateTheHate’s Nintendo Direct prediction is correct.
